El Mundo actual está sometido a un problema muy grave que es el cambio climático.
El en 2005 el incremento de la temperatura en el planeta fue de 0.8ºC. Hay una temperatura crítica que no se debe rebasar y es la de 2ºC, a estos 2ºC se le conoce como umbral crítico. Un incremento de 5 ºC, cambia la vida sobre el planeta como la conocemos y más del 25% de las ciudades quedarían sumergidas 7 m bajo el nivel de mar.
Se dice que un incremento de 6ºC causaría la extinción del ser humano. Hay que tomar medidas que contrarresten el ritmo del cambio climático actual antes del 2015, o si no ya el incremento de la temperatura en el planeta será imparable.
España ante el cumplimiento del Protocolo de Kioto
En el reparto acordado de responsabilidades en el seno de la UE para cumplir el Protocolo de Kioto, España le corresponde no aumentar mas del 15% sus emisiones de GEI respecto a las de 1990 como medida en el intervalo 2008-2012. Sin embargo las emisiones españolas de GEI han aumentado en mas del 50% desde 1990 hasta la actualidad, por el aumento del consumo, las emisiones y la dependencia energética.
